Souen Restaurant

souen lunch seaweed plate

If you are looking for something alternative then macrobiotic food could be your fit. This restaurant has three locations in New York City; Soho, Union Square and East Village. I visited the one in union square but the menu will not change much. The setting itself is very simple and causal, so you can pop in it for a quick lunch during office days or with your friend before visiting the union square farmer’s market.

The menu will mainly be based on Japanese flavors, different soups, colorful salads and many cooked gluten free grains with vegetables combinations. You will get out of the restaurant not feeling extremely full, which is a very healthy way of eating. I had the soup bowl which was delicious, filling and has various flavors dancing on my palate.

They also have different green juices and kombucha, a fermenter drink, which might also get you curious.
